Copresco has been honored with
the Xerox Recognition
Award for Sustained Excellence in Image Quality.
The Award recognizes
Coprescos continuing efforts to improve the performance of the
Docutech by achieving superior reproduction of photo
halftones and screen tints, according to Tony Federico, Xerox corporate vice
president/general manager of the production solutions business team.
In
making the presentation at the Print 01 show, Federico said,
Congratulations on winning this Xerox award of excellence. You really run
a benchmark shop! Meeting your very stringent requirements is pushing us to
become a better company, which benefits all of our customers.
The
Docutech quality enhancement program began in 1999. We were not satisfied
with the halftones and screens produced by our three
Docutech 6180s, says Copresco
president Steve Johnson.
After meeting with Xerox executives, we launched an extensive joint
analysis program to determine what could be done to obtain tighter tolerances
and improve the quality of the 6180, Johnson explained.
Meetings
were held regularly with Copresco staff members and Xerox local and corporate
executives and engineering personnel. Quality standards, project timetables,
benchmarks and progress reporting criteria were established.
In
addition to Xerox own standards, Coprescos recommended the adoption
of Graphic Arts Technical
Foundation (GATF) standards, including the use of densitometer readings and
test targets.
The program paid off. Through procedures implemented by
both Copresco and Xerox, Copresco is now delivering the highest quality
achievable on any Docutech.
As the leader
in our industry, Copresco will continue to push the envelope to achieve
maximum digital printing quality, Johnson concluded. This is an
on-going processthat will never endfor our black and
white and digital color operations.
Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications,
books and manuals for clients in the general business, printing trade,
technical and institutional fields.
