Website Wins Apex Grand Award

Copresco’s technical communications program received major national recognition with the announcement of Apex 2001 Award winners.

The company’s corporate website won a coveted Grand Award, one of only three presented in the business category—and six in the total awards program. Of the 5,129 entries in this year’s Apex competition, just 75 were honored with Grand Awards for outstanding work.

TechTopics, the digital printer’s technical bulletin series, received an Apex Award of Excellence for the second straight year. Copresco’s website had previously won Awards of Excellence in 1999 and 2000.

The annual Apex competition for communications professionals is sponsored by the publication Writing That Works. Awards are based on excellence in editorial content, graphic design and the success of the entry in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence. Judges consider the quality of creative ideas and concepts displayed rather than the expenses involved in producing the entries.

The judges had high praise for the website Copresco developed and maintains: “A practical, working site—content over glitz. This commercial printer's site does a superb job of keeping existing customers informed of new services and ways to use existing ones, and attracting new customers. Packed with useful information and links for publishing professionals. A very practical, ‘cut to the chase’ Web site.”

“We are, of course, extremely proud to receive these awards from a distinguished panel of experts,” says Copresco president Steve Johnson. “But we take even greater pride in the recognition of our efforts to provide beneficial communications vehicles that inform, educate and assist our customers. We have always believed that user-friendly websites offering easy access and helpful information outweigh those sites that rely on glitz and glamour,” Johnson added.

“We will continue to improve all of our technical communications tools, not to win awards, but to keep our customers on the forefront of the latest advances in digital technology and printing on-demand,” Johnson concluded.

Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications, books and manuals for clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and institutional fields. The company is headquartered in Carol Stream, Ill.
