Compressed files are less prone to damage in sending, and since many files may be compressed into one archive file, are easier to manage. A note about operating systems: Convention dictates the use of Zip compression for Windows and StuffIt for Mac. If you want to use StuffIt to create and send Windows files, go right ahead. But expect confusion and frustration on the part of many folks you send files to.
