Copresco opened for business in a
one-room Wheaton office on October
19, 1987, the infamous “Black Monday”
that saw the Dow Jones plunge more
than 22%.
Conventional printers of the day were not well-suited to producing projects with large numbers of pages and small quantities.
“We created an organization that specialized in the overnight printing of books and publications and was one of the very first companies to use digital imaging technology for book manufacturing,” says President Steve Johnson.
“Long before on-demand became an industry buzzword, we were turning out high-quality, short-run work in extremely short turnaround times,” Steve adds. “We have always thrived on doing the impossible, taking on projects that others can’t or won’t handle.”
Copresco clients get the best of both worlds. “With a journeyman staff averaging a dozen years with our company, no one in our field can offer more skill and experience, combined with the most up-to-date proven technology,” Steve explains.

Copresco’s digital presses produce millions of impressions for a diverse range of clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and institutional fields. Projects include catalogs, training manuals, textbooks, directories, calendars, cookbooks, planograms, workbooks, booklets and yearbooks.
Study after study proves the superiority
of printed books and publications over electronic media.
Print quantities are getting smaller, which has contributed notably to the growth and success of Copresco’s digital on-demand services.
Short-run, on-demand paperback books are an expanding market segment for our digital services. Publishers like the two to three-day turnaround
schedules that get books to the market faster—and eliminate waste and inventory costs.
On-demand reprinting runs are done quickly and economically.
Copresco continues to grow and
expand our technology base. During the last two and a half years, we have completely modernized and updated
our digital press lineup.
This wide-ranging productivity program included the installation of one of the first Ricoh Pro C9100 digital color printers in the country.
We are now printing sheets up to
27-1/2” long, a major achievement for your high-volume digital printing projects.
These oblong sheets offer countless creative design applications for wraparound covers for album-style books,
dust jackets, infographics, diagrams, flyers and six-page brochures.
New laminating equipment enhances
the aesthetics and adds value to the covers of books, booklets, catalogs and calendars as well as technical and marketing publications.
Recently added bindery equipment has once again increased our coil binding production capacity for your wire and plastic coil bound volumes.
More information about this expansion to come soon!
Our walls are covered with an
impressive array of prestigious awards and honors from our clients, the graphic arts industry and professional organizations.

excellence as well as widespread recognition for quality and innovation from equipment manufacturers and
graphic communications industry publications.
