Copresco Installs Automated Perfect Binding System

Copresco has installed a Horizon BQ-270 perfect binding system at its Carol Stream, Illinois plant.

The digital printer is the first customer to take delivery of the advanced technology binding system. “We saw the BQ-270 at the Graph Expo last fall and bought it on the spot,” says Copresco president Steve Johnson.

“The digitally-automated system, which slashes make-ready times, gives us added muscle to match the fast turnaround speed of our on-demand book printing jobs,” Johnson added.

Copresco has paired the perfect binder with a HT-70 three-knife trimmer that provides precise, one-step trimming after book binding.

Steve Johnson and Chuck Legorreta give instructions to

The new binder produces perfect bound books in sizes from 1/8” to 2” thickness, with covers ranging from one-color index to four-color process coated stocks.

The printer recently expanded its bindery finishing operations with the installation of a second Scott index tab and laminating system, new edge reinforcing equipment and a single-head stitcher.

Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications, books and manuals for clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and institutional fields.

The company is headquartered in Carol Stream, Ill.
