Copresco has been recognized as one of the oldest companies in the
suburban region on a Business Anniversaries list published by the Daily
Herald Business Ledger.
President Steve Johnson, who believed that
the future of printing was in digital technology, cofounded the company in
1987. He formed an organization specializing in the overnight printing of books
and publications and has been the pioneer of digital technology and on-demand
printing. "We were one of the very first companies to use digital imaging
technology for book manufacturing," Johnson says.
"Our clients get the
best of both worlds," Johnson added. "With a journeyman staff averaging a dozen
years with our company, no one in our field can offer more skill and
experience, combined with the most up-to-date proven technology. We'll be
celebrating our 30th anniversary next year, but walking through our Chicago
area plant, you'd never guess that Copresco is any more than a few years old."
The company's digital presses produce millions of impressions for a
diverse range of clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and
institutional fields. Projects include catalogs, manuals, textbooks,
directories, calendars, cookbooks, planners, workbooks, booklets, yearbooks and
reference guides.
Copresco continues to grow and expand its technology
base. Within the past 18 months, the firm finalized the complete updating and
modernization of its digital press lineup, including installation of one of the
first Ricoh Pro C9100 digital color printers in the country. "We can now print
sheets up to 27-1/2" long, a major achievement for high-volume digital
printing. These oblong sheets are perfect for book covers, dust jackets and
six-page brochures," Johnson explained.
Copresco has also won numerous
awards for digital printing excellence in national and international
competition. Achievements include international awards for printing excellence
as well as recognition for quality and innovation from equipment manufacturers
and graphic communications industry magazines.
